TarhVa Afarinesh received the
Hotel Design Award at the SBID International Design Awards 2015 for the IKIA 3 & 4 Star Hotel in Iran.
The winning project is developed on a land of 23’000 m
2 opposite the main passenger terminal of Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport as a part of newly developed airport cities positioned 35 km to southwest of Tehran.
Designed as a cluster of a 3-Star hotel with 196 rooms and a 4-Star hotel with 296 rooms, the total area spans to 55’000 m
2, with common service areas, separated guest and public areas.
Ms. Shiva Aghababaei, Architect of the firm says:
“This is the first airport hotel in Iran and the first Iranian hotel operated by an international hotel chain after the revolution. As the architect of the project, I am very happy to receive this award. Every acknowledgement brings hope to my country and my people. I try to bring life into my projects using sharp and brighten colours for wellbeing of people who visit and I hope everyone who sees the project shall feel this. The winners of the SBID International Design Awards 2015 were revealed on Friday 27 November in abeautiful ceremony at the prestigious Dorchester hotel in London. This year, the Awards represented industry talent from 41 countries from all creative corners of the world.
Winning an SBID International Design Award is truly a high achievement as all 14 categories are assessed by a technical panel, the public vote and a panel of leading industry experts who look for outstanding examples of technical content and aesthetic creativity. As one of the highest accolades of design excellence, the awards serve to reward and celebrate outstanding projects and products from the industry at large.
